Special Message
Dear Friends,
May God's peace and goodness be yours!
This has been a time of stress and suffering for
all New Yorkers in wake of the "acts of war." The
Bread of Life Food Pantry needs your help now more than ever.
The initial response to the World Trade Center
tragedy by the Pantry was to donate socks, boots and clean underwear
for the rescuers. The day of the tragedy, we opened our doors
wide to provide a sanctuary of food, beverages, clean-up facilities
and rest for the people fleeing north from the World Trade Center.
We now need your help as we face the long-term consequences
of the "acts of war."
In the months ahead, we will continue to offer
assistance to the families of those missing and deceased. We
need your help for the thousands of silent victims of the World
Trade Center disaster. With the Convention Center utilized by
F.E.M.A., hotels, restaurants and shows are under capacity,
causing hundreds to be unemployed or to have reduced hours.
The silent victims are the poor working families who are porters,
maids, bus boys, waiters, cleaners, etc. The increase in service
they require is straining our limits.
Thank you for your support of "Doodle for
Hunger II." Your contribution helps New York City because
it helps New Yorkers in need.
God's blessing upon you,
Very Reverend Francis J. Gasparik, O.F.M CAP
Executive Director of St.John's Food Pantry
